CHoir Director

Meet Cheryl Dummer

Cheryl (Purcell) Dummer began her musical training in preschool and has been singing in choirs and playing piano ever since! She thanks her parents for the many ways they invested in her musical and spiritual training. Cheryl followed the Lord in baptism at age 12, happy to declare Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord. She was mentored by the worship team at Yakima Alliance Church in Washington, where she discovered her passion for worshipping the Lord through music. She moved to Redding and earned her music degree from Simpson University, where she served as the student choir conductor. Cheryl has taught choir at Redding Christian School, directed the worship team and choir at Destiny Fellowship, and served as music director for three youth musicals put on by the Redding Arts Project.
She also taught piano proficiency classes and music theory as an adjunct professor in Simpson’s Music Department. Mrs. Dummer finds great joy to still be connected to so many former students and their families.

Currently, Cheryl serves with her husband, Jonathan, and their two teenage children on the Cow Creek Community Church worship team, teaches a few private music lessons, and directs the Grace Notes Choir. Mrs. Dummer is passionate about helping her students to grow in their relationship with Christ, to build healthy friendships, and to develop their God-given gifts!
